get column name for order by

luy
Good morning,

Is there a way, we can retrieve "column name" but not column index when
doing order by?

String sort_index   = req.getParameter((new
ParamEncoder("row_rec")).encodeParameterName(TableTagParameters.PARAMETER_SORT));

Could you provide

String sort_index   = req.getParameter((new
ParamEncoder("row_rec")).encodeParameterName(TableTagParameters.PARAMETER_NAME))

as well?

Thanks a lot!

naveen
try this...

String sortColParam = paramEncoder.encodeParameterName(TableTagParameters.

PARAMETER_SORT);

String columnName = (String)req.getParameter(sortColParam);

Thanks,
Naveen.

How do you get "paramEncoder"?

request.getParamEncoder?

I tried the following:

String sortColParam = new
ParamEncoder("row_rec").encodeParameterName(TableTagParameters.PARAMETER_ORDER);
          String columnName = (String)req.getParameter(sortColParam);

The result is column number "1, 2, 3..."

Thank you,

Re: get column name for order by

Hi Naveen,

I tried, it will not return column name , but column index!

With displaytag1.2, still cannot return column name when doing sort by a
column!

Thank you,

Re: get column name for order by

Hi Naveen,

ParamEncoder pe = new ParamEncoder("row_rec");
String sortColParam =
pe.encodeParameterName(TableTagParameters.PARAMETER_SORT);
System.out.println("\n sort col param = " + sortColParam);
System.out.println("\n sort name = " + req.getParameter(sortColParam));

Got
=================================
sort col param = d-1344057-s
sort name=1

jsp
======
<display:table id="row_rec"
                name="alist_paging_bean"
                export="true"
                class="simple"
                requestURI="ProcessDisplayTagAction"
                keepStatus="true"
                pagesize="<%=bean_display.getPageSize() %>"
                partialList="true"
                size="<%=bean_display.getTotalRecNum() %>"
                sort="external"
 >
<display:column property="disc_dept1_sdesc" title="StudDept"
sortable="true" />

Could someone suggest, how come I cannot get "column name" but always
"column index" please?

I am very curious why I cannot get column name!

Thanks a lot!!!!
